Fashion News – Atelier Cologne Opens First Canadian Location

Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto has become home to Canada’s first Atelier Cologne location. The L’Oreal owned brand, which was founded in Paris in 2009 prides itself on being the first fragrance brand entirely dedicated to cologne. The scents are all considered to be unisex and come in other products such as candles, shower gels, body lotions and hand creams. Fashion News – Off-White Joins Luxury Hub in Downtown Vancouver

Youth-focused, athleisure brand Off-White has opened its doors in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The two-story, 4300 square foot space is the second Canadian location, following a store opening in Toronto last year. Situated on “Eihu Lane” between Alberni Street and Robson Street, Off-White is surrounded by other high-end designer stores such as Moncler, Saint Laurent and Prada. The design concept of the store, created by Virgil Abloh himself perfectly mirrors the casual/luxury style of the clothing. Floors are mainly concrete with gold accent shelves and tables made of Italian marble slab sit on top of dishwasher crates, demonstrating the brand’s juxtaposition. Rumours have been swirling around the acclaimed fashion magazine after Page Six reported that Anna Wintour may be gearing up to retire as Editor-In-Chief at Vogue. Wintour has been with the magazine for 30 years – it’s hard to imagine Vogue without this iconic sunglasses-clad, Chanel toting maven. Fashion News – New Creative Director of LV Menswear Announced

Virgil Abloh, the former designer of cool-kid streetwear brand, Off White makes history as the first black artistic director at Louis Vuitton. Since founding Off White in 2013, Abloh successfully intermixed streetwear with luxury wear, turning hoodies into prestigious pieces. He is also known by many in the music industry for working and collaborating closely with Kanye West. In 2011, Abloh was nominated for a Grammy for his art direction on Kanye West’s and Jay-Z’s hit album, Watch the Throne. A few years later, Off White’s womenswear line gained serious momentum as Beyoncé was seen sporting his sweatshirt in a music video and he became a finalist for the famed LVMH Prize. Fashion News – Hit Me Kenzo One More Time

Guess who is the new face of Kenzo’s La Collection Momento for Spring 2018? None other than the queen of pop, Britney Spears. The new line is inspired by nostalgia and revisits looks from the 80s, Kenzo’s old label and even Britney’s iconic head-to-toe denim getup she so confidently sported at the 2001 American Music Awards. The cover shot for the campaign, photographed by Peter Lindbergh, features Britney in a cropped denim jacket, denim underwear, and denim lace-up thigh high boots. Kenzo creative director Humberto Leon refers to Britney as “the queen of denim” and said in a statement, “When we were designing the collection, I was like, ‘If I can have a dream person, who would I want to be in denim? It has to be Britney’”. The 36-year-old mom of two proves she’s still got it in this new campaign, showing off her envy-worthy body in colourful outfits that will be available online and at select retailers on March 21st. Fashion News – Asics Opens First Canadian Flagship

The Japanese athletic brand, widely recognized for their footwear has started global expansion by opening new flagship locations. Following the opening of a flagship in Manhattan in December, Canada is joining the Asics crew with a 4,400 square foot, two-level Asics store on Queen Street West in Toronto. Sports-geared brands are becoming more prominent on this popular Toronto Street. The new Asics store is surrounded by the likes of Lululemon, Adidas and Reigning Champ and will be joined by a new Mountain Equipment Co-op location later in 2018. Fashion News – DVF Celebrates International Women’s Day

Diane Von Furstenberg kicked off a four-day, celebratory event in honour of International Women’s Day. The event began with a cocktail party at the DVF House in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan, featuring multiple panels shining the light on women in charge. Guests such as Natasha Diggs, Chelsea Leyland, and Fran Lebowitz were present, joining in on customizing #InCharge T-shirts and listening to a diverse group of professional women speak. Fashion News – La Maison Simons to Open First “Eco-Store”

The large multi-brand department store will be taking over an 80,000 square foot space formally occupied by Target in Les Galeries de la Capitale in Quebec City, where the brand is based. This will be the French-Canadian brand’s first “eco-store” and will implement earth-conscious features such as solar panels and recharging stations for electric cars. Opening on March 15th, the new Maison Simons will serve as a tester store for new technologies and aim to have a zero-net footprint. Fashion News – MUJI announces Richmond store opening for April

As the Japanese retailer continues to see success throughout Canada, MUJI announces a third store opening in the Metro-Vancouver area. The new location in CF Richmond Centre is set to open in April of this year following Scarborough Town Centre opening next month in Toronto. The latest Richmond store will span across an 8,100 square foot space in the mall, right next to Victoria’s Secret. Fashion News – Yorkville Hosts Toronto Fashion Week

The three-day event was held in Toronto’s Yorkville Village, marking the first time this fall/winter fashion week has taken place inside a shopping centre. Several brands held pop-ups inside the centre, giving consumers the chance to purchase designer’s goods fresh off the runway. The large shopping mall was transformed into a unique space including a large runway, a lounge and open spaces for guests to mingle.
